I remember driving around with my dad years ago to run errands or really just about anywhere. When you're a kid you don't really have any awareness of the parking lot surroundings. However, as an adult, you quickly learn as you drive more that not all parking lots are created equal and some are downright awful when it comes to traffic.

Sometimes a bad parking lot can be based on its condition. How many potholes does it have? Has it been forever since it's been repaved?

Then you have the parking lots that are traffic nightmares; based on two factors: how busy it is and what the layout of the parking lot is?

Here in Western New York, we don't really have anywhere near the traffic of bigger cities such as New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Dallas, but I think we have some pretty bad parking lots that rival any city.

The worst to be are giant plazas. Some plazas aren't that bad but if the layout is wonky or poorly designed, then you have yourself a problem when it comes to weekends or holiday traffic. I've easily spent days of my life in some of them over the last 30 years.

The 2020 County Health Rankings values were calculated using mortality counts from the 2016-2018 National Center for Health Statistics. The U.S. Census 2019 American Community Survey and America's Health Rankings Senior Report 2019 data were also used to provide demographics on the senior population of each state and the state's rank on senior health care, respectively.
