There really are two seasons in Western New York; construction and winter. The construction season is in full swing and there are some projects that will affect those who drive in the Northtowns this weekend.

The New York State Department of Transportation/ WNY division is reminding drivers about utility work that will be happening on the
990 in Amherst. There are going to be overnight closures scheduled to begin at 9pm Friday and Saturday. Detours will be posted.

A reminder to all who pass through a work zone, SLOW DOWN.

This comes on the same weekend as the most popular food festival begins. There will be road closures and parking may be a struggle as the Taste of Buffalo returns to Niagara Square. The weather looks superb for those looking to head downtown to sample food,, listen to live music and see celebrity chefs. It is great to see the festival back in it's full form again.

I drive downtown every day and to see the tents being set up and the food trucks being put in position was certainly a refreshing sight that felt comforting. Give everything that has happened here in Buffalo in the last month and over the last couple of years, getting the community back together sure feels good.

Enjoy the weekend and what is left of the summer of 2022. Even though there may be a few traffic related delays, it won't be long before the dump trucks and construction cones are replaced by salt trucks and snowblowers.
