Excessive snow led to whiteout conditions that caused a massive pile-up on the New York Thruway. Multiple vehicles and tractor-trailers were involved in the accident, which took place on Monday, February 17, 2025.

When local or state governments issue travel warnings or travel bans, there is usually a good reason. Yesterday, whiteout conditions were so bad that a huge multi-vehicle collision occurred on the NY Thruway. Around 11:30 am on Monday, multiple ambulances were directed to the Thruway, west of Herkimer. The accident involved 15 passenger vehicles and three tractor-trailers. It took place near exit 29 westbound on the Thruway in Herkimer. According to News Channel 2, one person was injured in the accident, which is a blessing. The Thruway in the area re-opened around 5 pm.
