Two Buffalo Men Are Going To Prison For Sex Abuse Of Minors
Two Buffalo men have been sentenced to prison in separate sexual abuse cases involving juvenile victims. Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced the charges against the two men. A 63-year-old was sentenced on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, by Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan to one count of Attempted Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree.
Edward J. Cody, Jr. of Buffalo will spend 7 years in prison. When he is released he will have to serve an additional 10 years of post-release supervision. He was on parole when he committed the crime and has been sentenced as a second violent offender. He tried to have sexual conduct with a minor on February 6, 2019.
The other man was given the maximum sentence after pleading guilty to one count of Attempted Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree and one count of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the Second Degree. D.A. Flynn announced that the 35-year-old Buffalo man was also sentenced on March 16 by State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges. Frankie M. Hancock will spend 15 years in prison for his crime with an additional 15 years of post-release supervision.
The defendant admitted that he attempted to engage in two or more acts of sexual conduct with a victim who was less than 11-years-old between March 1, 2017 and February 1, 2019. During the same time period, the defendant admitted that he engaged in two or more acts of sexual conduct with a second victim who was also less than 11-years-old.
An order of protection was issued to both victims.
