Thousands Celebrated Puerto Rican and Hispanic Culture at 24th Annual Parade & Festival
There is just something special about summertime in Buffalo. When you consider that there are only around 8-ish weeks of good weather in Western New York, we have a lot of things to do and not a whole lot of time to do it. So that makes making sure you get to each and every festival, event, concert, and show you can get to extremely important.
Most people would agree that the general consensus around Western New York is that it's one of the best summers we've had in the region in a very long time. From the great weather we've had, not to mention all the awesome events and the opening of the brand-new Highmark Stadium, 2026 is going to be one of those years we'll talk about for a while.

From Rochester to Toronto, Niagara Falls to Chautauqua, the best food and people live in Western New York and Southern Ontario, and one of the key events that brings people from every corner of the region to Buffalo's Avenida San Juan is the annual Puerto Rican and Hispanic Day Parade and Festival, which has now happened in downtown Buffalo and Buffalo's lower west side for 24 years.
The Best of Puerto Rican & Hispanic Culture Was On Display During 24th Annual Puerto Rican and Hispanic Day Parade
Just imagine the sights and sounds of thousands of people parading from Buffalo's Niagara Square, heading north along Avenida San Juan (Niagara Street), towards Porter Avenue on the city's West Side, all while thousands more lined the streets to honor the legacy and celebrate Hispanic culture as they went down the Avenida.

Dozens of floats lined the streets while revelers danced and sang with all flavors of Hispanic music blasted from speakers.
The celebrations continued after the parade as hundreds of people made thier way back down Avenida San Juan into Niagara Square for a cultural festival that featured great food, a KidZone, amazing performances by DJ C-Perfect & Premier Pulse, LaKrema, Las Voces Originales, and more. Plus, this year featured Buffalo's first-ever chancleta throwing contest. It was great watching Abuelitas of all ages putting their chancletazo skills to the test.
Buffalo is truly the City of Good Neighbors, and events like this are key parts of the fabric of Buffalo. If you didn't make it to the parade and festival, then you missed out, but you can check out some photos from the 24th Annual Puerto Rican and Hispanic Day Parade below.
