Popular Vodka Sold In New York Has ‘Weird Chemical Taste’

A popular vodka, which is sold in New York State, reportedly has a 'weird chemical taste'. If you have purchased this vodka, you are eligible for a refund.

There have been several threads on Reddit questioning the taste of Costco's brand of vodka. Reddit threads, including one titled, "What is going on with the Kirkland brand of vodka?" have been popping up, prompting the giant retailer to address the issue.

One person who purchased Kirkland Signature American Vodka told People,

I opened a bottle last night, and the smell and taste were so bad that I poured my drink out. Very disappointed because we have enjoyed this brand for years.

Another user said it "tasted like No. 2 diesel fuel."

Costco released a statement to People on August 15, 2023, addressing the bad smell and taste,

It has come to our attention that the taste profile of units marked with certain lot codes may not have met the expected profile normally consistent with this product. While not a food safety issue, this does not meet our quality expectations.

Costco has not provided a reason why the vodka had a bad taste and smell. Consumers who purchased any of the affected products can return them for a full refund.
