A person has been arrested in connection to the fire that was started at City Hall after the George Floyd protest on Saturday escalated.

The Buffalo Police Department says that a suspect has been taken into custody, according to WKBW. The person's identity has not yet been revealed.

After peaceful protests about the murder of George Floyd, an unarmed African-American man at the hands of police in Minneapolis escalated, a fire was set inside City Hall. Buffalo Fire Department was called to City Hall around 11:30 pm on Saturday (May 30) to contain the small fire.

The Buffalo Police Department posted a photo of a suspect, prior to this arrest, on its Facebook page. There is no word yet that confirms that the man in the picture is the person who is in custody.  There was also other damage to City Hall, the Federal Court building, the Statler and businesses on Elmwood, Main and grant streets.
