New York State Troopers arrested four people on gun and drug charges after a car chase in Rochester. On April 29, 2022, Troopers tried to pull a vehicle over to conduct a traffic stop for a seatbelt violation. The 2021 GMC Terrain did not stop and led police on a chase through multiple city streets and drove into the town of Gates. During the chase police allegedly witnessed a 9 mm weapon and a loaded magazine being thrown from the vehicle. A small bag containing cocaine was also allegedly thrown out of the window.

The GMC crashed into a citizen's vehicle and a police vehicle, ending the chase. The suspects briefly struggled with Troopers before being arrested. An officer was struck in the face and another suffered from a hand injury during the struggle, resulting in assault charges for the suspects. Three adults and one 16-year-old were taken into custody. The driver, 24-year-old Detaji Parris is facing multiple charges - Criminal Possession of a Weapon, two Counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Assault, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Passenger - 30-year-old Sylvester C. Johnson

Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, 2 Counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree for high capacity magazines, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree for a prior conviction, Assault 2nd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree.

Passenger - Unnamed 16-year-old Juvenile

Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, 2 Counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, for high capacity magazines, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree.
