NYS’ COVID Rent Relief Program Has Been Extended
The deadline to apply for the New York State COVID-19 Rental Relief Program has been extended.
The original rental assistance program had an application deadline that expired on Thursday, July 30th, but with how large the need for help in our communities are, it's good to see that New York State has given people more time to apply.
The Legislature designed the COVID Rent Relief Program to help New Yorkers who are the most at-risk and rent burdened after losing income due to the pandemic. By keeping the online portal open for another week, we can make sure everyone who needs to apply for assistance has the opportunity to do so.

Now with the extra time that has been added to this program, it's really essential that people apply and make sure of this assistance. If you, or anyone you know, need help, I encourage you to apply as soon as possible. Applications can be submitted online here or you can download a paper application here and send it to New York State Department of Homes and Community Renewal.
In case you do not know if you qualify, you can use this Eligibility Calculator that was created by HCR to help you figure that out.
If you have additional questions about this program, you can reach out to NYSHCR Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. at 1-833-499-0318 or via e-mail here.
