NY National Guard to Enforce Travel Quarantines at Airports
Governor Cuomo has ordered the New York National Guard to help the New York State Health Dept. when requesting people who enter New York State via airports to complete the Traveler Health Form.
As reported by WKBW-TV, the ultimate goal of this project is to help Health Department staffers have more time to do their normal duties, while still collecting the information needed to help protect the public.
The initiative will vary from airport to airport and is being phased in starting today, a representative from the New York National Guard said. Guard members were seen working in this capacity at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport on Friday.

As of October 13th, the New York State Dept of Health has placed more than 30 different States and US Territories on the Quarantined Travel List. You can also find a list of all of the restricted locations here.
People who travel to New York State from any of the locations on the Restricted List are required to quarantine themselves for 14 days. Those who do not quarantine, or do not complete a Traveler Health Form, may be subject to a fine or required to complete a mandatory quarantine.
All out-of-state travelers from designated states must complete the form upon entering New York. Travelers who leave the airport without completing the form will be subject to a $2,000 fine and may be brought to a hearing and ordered to complete mandatory quarantine. Travelers coming to New York from designated states through other means of transport, including trains and cars, must fill out the form online.
