New York State Pushing to Vaccinate Kids, Announces 25 Pop-Ups at Schools
Governor Kathy Hochul recently announced that New York State will host 25 new #VaxtoSchool COVID-19 vaccination pop-ups aimed at vaccinated kids. Back on September 21, 2021, Gov. Hochul said that a total of 120 pop-up sites would be placed around the state over a 12-week period. So far, 86 sites have been set up.
Gov. Hochul says that it's important for kids in New York to be vaccinated against the deadly virus,
"We continue to do everything possible to vaccinate eligible school-aged New Yorkers. Our #VaxtoSchool program—including new sites established weekly, mobile vaccinations, and education efforts in collaboration with partners on-the-ground—is bringing the vaccine to younger New Yorkers and their families. If you are a parent or guardian of a school-aged New Yorker, I urge you to get your child vaccinated so they can protect themselves, those around them, and participate in keeping their school community healthy and safe from COVID-19."
A medical professional is available at each of the sites to answer questions for parents and guardians. For the week of October 18, the #VaxtoSchool bus is scheduled to visit:
- Massena Community Center (North Country)
- Chenango Valley High School (Southern Tier)
- Vineyard Farms and Outdoors Center for Excellence (Finger Lakes)
As of October 18, 62.8 percent of 12 to 15-year-olds and 72.3 percent of 16 to 25-year-olds have received at least one vaccine dose. ~ Governor's website
