Federal Government Is Suing New York To Get Your Records
The federal government is suing New York State. It's beginning to feel like we have a starring role in a dystopian movie. I miss the days when I didn't wake up worried about what type of political B.S. was going on, and we had a properly functioning government. Every day brings a new mess, and it's unsettling. People have lost their jobs, families are struggling to make ends meet, inflation is super high, and our standing in the world seems to be laughable, at best.
As if that's not enough, the federal government is worried about getting our voting records. I would respectfully suggest that they focus on really important things - like bringing food prices down, stopping farmers from losing their farms, and releasing the Epstein files - things that are actually important to the American people. But, like a bull in a china shop, there's just chaos in our country.

The current administration's Justice Department announced that it is suing New York and five other blue states - California, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania - to gain voter registration lists. For a government that promoted states' rights, it seems like that's only the case when they agree with the states. So far, this government has been on a revenge tour, using the Justice Department to attack its political rivals and Democrat run states. I miss the days when adults were in charge of the federal government, not high school bullies.
Thankfully, here in New York, we have a highly accomplished Attorney General, Letitia James, who has fought back against the federal government's overreach and won! She recently led a coalition of 20 other attorneys general and the state of Kentucky in fighting back against the federal government's attempt to gain the personal information of SNAP recipients. The District Court for the Northern District of California ordered a temporary restraining order preventing the Trump administration from getting its hands on the information of vulnerable New York families.
EVERYONE, not just Democrats and Independents, should be worried about a federal government seeking revenge by demanding access to citizens' personal information. If we don't stand up for our rights, we may wake up in a dictatorship similar to Russia or North Korea one day in the near future and wonder how we got there.
