
All New York DMV Offices Are Closed Until Wednesday
If you have any business at the Department of Motor Vehicles in New York, you won't be able to get it done until Wednesday, February 18, 2026. All DMV offices in New York will be closed through Tuesday.

Speeding In New York Will Cost You More This Year
Speeding in New York will cost you more. Governor Kathy Hochul is making good on her 2023 promise to make roads in New York safer. In her “Achieving the New York Dream” agenda, Gov. Hochul outlined the changes taking effect.
"Governor Hochul will direct the Department of Motor Vehicles to amend regulations to
increase the number of points associated with dangerous driving and decrease the threshold at which dangerous drivers are disqualified from holding a license. She will also direct the DMV to amend regulations to lower the bar for permanent license
forfeiture for reckless drivers who continue to drive under the influence of mind-altering substances."

The DMV announced that its offices closed on Friday and are unreachable and unavailable until Wednesday.
"At 2 PM on Friday, 2/13, all DMV offices will close. Phone and online services will also be unavailable while we upgrade our systems. Offices will reopen and online services will resume on Wednesday, 2/18. We apologize for the inconvenience."
If you have any business at the DMV, you will have to wait a couple more days.
