"Florida personal injury lawyers at Anidjar & Levine analyzed 2021–2023 data from the United States Lifesaving Association, looking at the total attendance for each location, and compared that to the total number of rescues that were required to discover the rate of rescues per 100,000 beachgoers in attendance."
Connecticut is the safest state in the country to swim at the beach. Between 2021 and 2023 it had 0.4 rescues per 100,000 beachgoers.
The study examined data to determine which states have the most hazardous beaches. Anidjar & Levine analyzed the number of rescues per 100,000 beachgoers. New York was the second highest on the list.
New York was only beaten by Oregon, which had 296 out of 361,967 beachgoers that needed to be rescued - a rate of 81.8 rescues per 100,000.
In New York, between 2021 and 2023, there were 73.7 rescues for every 100,000 beachgoers. In total, during that period, 4,551,283 people went to the beach with 3,355 of them needing to be rescued.
