The housing market in Buffalo and Western New York has been one of the hottest in the country.

Whether you're looking to rent an apartment or buy a house, the combination of inflation, other housing cost increases, and low housing availability has made the 716 a tough place to find an affordable place to live.

According to data released by the Buffalo Niagara Association of Realtors, one of the primary reasons why the market is so challenging is simply because there are not a lot of houses on the market to buy. The amount of homes that are on the market and available to buy is down more than 6% from this time last year, and that is causing a tight market.

Prices have continued to increase this fall despite softening home sales nationwide, as a lack of inventory has kept the market competitive for prospective buyers, sparking bidding wars and causing homes to sell for above asking price in some areas.

Given these circumstances in the housing market, the fact that a brand new house is being built on Buffalo's westside is a nice plus for those looking to buy.

There aren't usually a lot of new homes being built within the city of Buffalo limits. So that means it's usually a good thing when shovels go in the ground for new construction.

Buffalo Rising first reported on some new infill housing that was being built on West Avenue near Vermont Street.

According to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Infill Housing is when new homes are developed and built within completed, established neighborhoods with available or vacant land.

This new house, which now has its siding and is nearly complete, is being built on a vacant corner lot. The house was designed and is being constructed by Buffalo Modular Homes and looks like it's following one of their City Tall Floorplans that can be found on their website. Sporting three-bedrooms, 2-and-a-half-bathrooms, and nearly 1,600 square feet of living space, by all accounts, this house will serve a family very well when it's complete.

It's not listed for sale yet, so its sales price isn't available; however, according to Buffalo Rising, the building permit has a $300,000 value attached to it.

I can't wait to see the final product when it's all done.
