The 2025 entertainment calendar for Western New York and Southern Ontario is starting to take more shape and as the weather starts to get better, we're starting to see great shows, concerts, and events get announced all over the region.

We've already seen a couple great events hit town already with top notch comedians like Kevin Hart doing multiple shows in Buffalo and music superstars like Cody Johnson and Kelsea Ballerini hitting the stage already, we've had some great options already. If that wasn't enough, there are more big name stars on the way to town with the likes of Mary J. Blige, Kane Brown, Carly Pearce, Jason Aldean, Brantley Gilbert, and Nelly all scheduled to come to town, you're sure to have plenty of options to have fun.

However, if a wild and crazy concert isn't your type of party, then there is something else happening that might peek your interest.

Movie Superstar Morgan Freeman Is Coming To The Chautauqua Institution

Having entertained generations of people for more than 60 years, the legendary Morgan Freeman is heading to Western New York to give a talk and do some other fun activities this summer.

Born in 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee, Morgan Freeman is an American actor and producer who is largely considered one of the greatest actors ever.

The former United States Air Force Airman, Freeman has been performing since 1964 and has performed in more than 100 movies in his career, earning him nearly 30 awards in his lifetime, including an American Film Institute Life Achievement Award.

Freeman is due to appear at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, New York on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, where he'll lead a conversation about the history and heritage Blues music has had in American life and culture, along with him narrating a symphonic performance of Blues music by the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra.

This sounds like it will be a great event and tickets are available now on the Chautauqua Institution website.

These are some of the most glamourous and astoundingly beautiful theaters in all of Upstate New York. From the very modern (the Frank Gehry designed concert hall at Bard College) to the very, very old (several from 150+ years ago), this is a collection of great places to see a concert in Upstate New York.
