This might be the snowiest Christmas we have ever seen in Buffalo...

There's a winter storm coming for Western New York that will arrive just in time for the overnight on Christmas Eve and bring widespread snow going into Christmas morning. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Chautauqua, and Cattaraugus counties from Thursday evening (Christmas Eve) through Saturday afternoon, according to WIVB.

Christmas Eve will see temperatures in the high 40s or low 50s for the morning and early afternoon, then fall rapidly in the evening as that storm rolls through our region.

According to WKBW, more than 12 inches of snow could fall south of Buffalo on Christmas but that's not to say it'll miss Buffalo. The lake effect snow band will be heavy at times and likely start in the Buffalo metro by midday on Christmas. It will probably shift back to the southern tier by later on Christmas.

It's also going to be cold. The high on Christmas Day will only be 25 degrees with a low of 18.

Travel could be difficult to impossible during Christmas Day and into the overnight going into Saturday, so be prepared if you're traveling to see family for the holiday.

The most snow we have seen fall on Christmas Day in Buffalo was 8.4 inches in 2002. We could very well break that in 2020.

One thing is for certain, everyone in Western New York will be getting a white Christmas...it just may be much more than we bargained for.
