It has been a busy and emotional few days for people in Buffalo, New York's largest suburb as law enforcement and other members of the community joined together to search for a woman who had gone missing earlier this week.

The Amherst, New York, Police Department issued an alert and was asking the community for help to find a 29-year-old woman who had not been seen since the evening hours Saturday, February 8, 2025, in the town of Amherst. Leah Bellitto, described as a 5'6" woman, weighing around 135 pounds with brown hair and eyes, had not been heard from in days and the police department was seeking help to find her. She was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants, and a blue backpack.

In the days since she went missing, officials had been searching for her around the wooded areas around the town, including some of the towns creeks and streams like Ransom Creek and Got Creek. According to WKBW, more than 50 volunteers joined law enforcement to search for Bellitto.
