We want to recognize student athletes who represent their schools in a positive way! This week we celebrate, Logan Haseley, a student athlete who has sportsmanship, is willing to help their teammates, is dedicated, has pride in themselves and their school and maintains their grades!

At the end of each month, each of the MVPs will be entered into a random drawing to win a limited edition pair of Ray Bans from Dr. Beyer! Dr. Beyer Optical- for a look that’s on fire, you gotta call Dr. Beyer! 646-EXAM!

    Cortez is an 11th grade student at Niagara Falls HS, who is a bowling champ!! "Cortez is ranked #2 in the Niagara Frontier Bowling League (NFL). He holds the highest average for the Niagara Falls High School Boys Bowling Team with a 212.5. He received the All Star Award and the Scholar Athlete Award for his over all grade point average of 91. He is currently on honor roll." He is definitely "on a roll" lol! Keep being amazing Cortez, you are the real MVP!

In football Joshua runs yards just to get a touchdown for his team. Josh is very supportive and should be one of the MVP athletes!"     Jamyra is an 8th grade student at East Middle in Cheektowaga, who plays basketball! "Jamyra Green has been a honor roll student since kindergarten. She is in the 8th grade taking 9th grade courses, maintaining a 93 GPA, while on the basketball team. She is fluent in Spanish, all while being partially blind in 1 eye. She is an outstanding daughter and roll model to her 3 little sisters."

"Amarfio Reynolds is a straight A student and picked by teachers as a great role model. He trains for his sports with his heart and always gives his all. Wrestling is his favorite because it's you against your opponent and the outcome depends on you!"

    Jalen is an 8th grade student at Niagara Wheatfield, who Varsity Basketball. "Jalen is an 8th grade, 5'11" starting point guard for Niagara Wheatfield's Varsity basketball team. He has played and excelled in many sports growing up but the basketball court is undoubtedly his home. At only 14 years old, in his first year of Varsity, he is excelling and exceeding everyone's expectations. He is PG for the WNY Elite AAU Basketball Team and is ranked Nationally among the Class of 2021. He is a hard working, excellent student and role model! He dedicates his free time to training, and has spent years waking up at 6am on weekends training hard when he doesn't have games. He is a very driven and focused student athlete with a bright future who takes no days off!"

    Kahniya is an 8th student at North Park Junior High School in Lockport, who participates in track! "Since her 7th grade year, Kahniya has been excelling in track against girls 5 years her senior. From seasonal to indoor track she has made her mark. She currently holds the number one spot for the 55 meter dash in indoor track. Competing against older children has never steered her away from doing her best. During the Spring '16 season she had the opportunity to run on the same team as her big brother Kahlil James, class of 2016. She is a bright young lady that really knows how to brighten up a room. At every meet you can gear her loudly cheering on her teammates, during every event. Although working hard to perfect her craft, Kahniya makes sure to maintain good grades managing to receive honor or merit roll status every quarter."

    Nia is a 12th grader at Tapestry Charter HS, who is on the Varsity Girl's Basketball team! "Nia is a senior at Tapestry Charter HS. She has seen some great basketball milestones in her four years. In her freshman year the Tapestry Thunderhawks won the Section 6 C1 championship, in her sophomore year she was All Charter HS and Player of the Year, in her junior year she was named All WNY 4th team, All Charter HS MVP and earned her 1,000 career scoring points. Just recently Tapestry Charter HS won the championship in the 11th Annual McKinley HS Holiday Tournament where Nia Caver was named MVP." Keep representin' Nia!!

    Nevaeh is an 8th grader, who plays basketball at Maryvale Middle School in Cheektowaga! "Nevaeh is part of the National Junior Honors Society at her school which allows her to assist her peers in the school when needed, and to serve as a role model for the incoming middle school students. This year Nevaeh is taking two advance placement classes in Math and Science, and will go into high school already having high school credits under her belt. Academics is important to Nevaeh and she maintains honor roll status all while juggling basketball and her other school activities. She is loving, respectful, and empathetic with a huge heart for helping others. Nevaeh is a great daughter and her parents are very proud of her achievements on and off the court." Nevaeh, you are the real MVP girl!!
