Mark Wahlberg Movie Being Filmed in Buffalo?
If you have been paying attention over the last several years, Western New York is becoming more of a destination for movie makers, which includes Hollywood movies.
Many people remember when Nightmare Alley was being filmed in Buffalo back in early 2020, which starred Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette and Willem Dafoe. It was directed by Guillermo del Toro. The filming took place just before the pandemic and was released in 2021.
Is there another major movie being filmed in Western New York, starring Mark Wahlberg?
If you were in Buffalo on Tuesday afternoon, you may have seen a helicopter flying above. It didn't have any distinguishable features or decals, so many were wondering what in the world was it for?
As it turns out, a major movie for Apple TV+.
WKBW reports that the helicopter flying above the Buffalo skyline was filming overhead shots for an upcoming Mark Wahlberg movie.
The movie is reportedly called Holiday Road and will be aired on Apple TV+.
The casting calls for the movie are based in Atlanta, however, so it's not yet clear if other scenes will be filmed in Buffalo or if the movie is set in Buffalo. Hopefully, we get those answers in the near future.
Wahlberg is best known for starring roles in Boogie Nights, The Perfect Storm, Invincible, Max Payne, Ted and Uncharted.
I'm very curious as to why they needed helicopter shots of Buffalo for this movie? The casting calls make it feel like it's a period piece, from the 2000s or maybe it's just because the theme is more gritty?
Either way, a Wahlberg movie being filmed or set in Buffalo would be something.
