Was Josh Allen’s Huge Billboard Put Up Illegally?
Buffalo's QB1 has been in the news a whole lot lately. It's a pretty tough job being the number one quarterback in New York State, the Northeast, and the AFC East. The burden is tough, but we're confident that the one and only JA17 has broad enough shoulders to handle the burden.
Not only has Allen been the hottest quarterback in the NFL since the season started, but he's also been the star of national ad campaigns with Pepsi and Gatorade. Now, Josh stands larger than life, looking over downtown Buffalo.

Just in case you missed it, a few weeks ago, a huge Josh Allen billboard was erected on the south-facing side of Statler Hotel in downtown Buffalo. At 120 feet tall and 110 feet wide, this billboard now ranks as the largest in Buffalo history. It is so large that it can be seen from Fort Erie Beach, in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada—which, in case you forgot, is a whole other country.
To say that this billboard is big news in New York State, Buffalo, and the NFL would be an understatement. However, not everything seems good to go with the advertisement.

According to a report from WIVB-TV, it seems the billboard was erected illegally.
The owners of the Statler Hotel and the ad agency responsible for the billboard did not get the proper permits to put up the ad. It appears that the permits were applied for, but since government officials with the city's zoning board and the city council took a summer recess, they could not vote on and approve the permits. The Statler owners only had a short time to install the billboard, so they went ahead with it anyway, despite whatever ramifications could come from not having the proper permits.
The City of Buffalo Zoning Board is scheduled to meet again in October, and they will review the application for a permit then. Let's hope city officials do the right thing for Buffalo.
