‘Siri’ Snooping Settlement-How New Yorkers Can Get Their Cut
This is something you don't read about every day. Apple may owe you money. It's part of a claim that found the giant in the wrong. Here's how you can get a piece of the settlement.
According to WGRZ, if you’ve owned an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or any other Siri-enabled Apple device since 2014, you could be eligible for some quick cash, but you must act fast. The deadline to file a claim in the Apple “snooping Siri” settlement is July 2nd.
Why Does Apple Owe Us Money?
Apple agreed to pay ninety-five million dollars after users claimed that Siri was recording them without permission, even when they weren’t saying “Hey Siri.” Apple didn’t admit to any wrongdoing but is settling to close the case.
How Much Can We Expect?
You could get up to $20 per device, with a limit of five devices. So if you’ve had a few iPhones over the years, it might add up.

How Do You Put A Claim In?
To file, head to the settlement website and click “Submit Claim.” You’ll need to provide your name, address, and the serial number and model of your devices. Didn’t get an email with a claim code? No problem, just click “New Claim.”
Payouts likely won’t go out until later this year, depending on court approval and any appeals.
Heads up: If you file a claim, you waive your right to sue Apple separately for anything related to this case. Want to keep that option open? You’ll need to opt out.
Bottom line: If you’ve used Siri between September 17th, 2014, and December 31st, 2024, you could be entitled to a little something back.
