As the 2025/26 NFL Regular season comes to an end for the AFC East, two teams have finished off the season just like they started it 53 years ago. Way back when, on Sunday, September 30, 1973, the Buffalo Bills opened thier brand new football facility, Rich Stadium, with great production from O.J. Simpson and the Electric Company to grab a win against the New York Jets. Now, more than 5 decades later, the Buffalo Bills decisively beat the Jets in the final game in that same stadium.

Next season, the Bills move across the street to the new $2 billion Highmark Stadium, and they sent off the old stadium in style, doing so with lots of celebrations and more than 70,000 fans watching the team wrap up the season for the playoffs.

The Buffalo Bills scored early and often in the 131st meeting of these two teams as the Bills put up three quick touchdowns in the first half.

Mitch Trubisky tossed a beautiful 17-yard pass to a wide-open Dawson Knox, who snagged a first-quarter touchdown. After some good defense by the Bills, the offense got back to work with Ty Johnson running the ball 6 yards to score the Bills' second score of the game.

The Bills weren't done scoring in the first half as Mitch Trubisky found the end zone a second time after tossing a quick 2-yard pass to Ray Davis, who was able to give Buffalo thier third touchdown of the game.

The second half of football in Buffalo saw the Bills continue to dominate the Jets as the Bills put up their fourth touchdown of the game after Gabe Davis caught a big two-yard pass in traffic for his first touchdown of the season. Following that score, the Bills decided to go for a two-point conversion, which was good with Keon Coleman grabbing a nice pass in the front corner of the end zone.

If anyone thought the Bills would take it easy on the final game at Highmark Stadium, they would be sadly mistaken, as the team scored its fifth touchdown of the game after Mitch Trubisky threw his fourth touchdown pass of the game, a 6-yard toss to Ty Johnson, bringing the score to 35-0 against the Jets.

Late in the fourth quarter, the Jets were able to put together some offense and score some points, but it was not enough to mount any sort of comeback. In the end, the Bills' offense and defense were too much, and the Bills closed out the final regular-season game at Highmark Stadium with a 35-8 win.

Now, the team looks to the Wild Card Round of the 2025/26 NFL Playoffs, where they will travel to Jacksonville to face the Jaguars.
