Team USA men's hockey team continued thier dominate run in the opening round of the Olympics in Italy beating Team Germany 5-1 on Sunday.

Buffalo Sabre forward Tage Thompson scored his 2nd goal of the Olympics in the 5-1 win over Germany. Thompson scored early in the 3rd period as Team USA wrapped up the preliminary round of hockey with a 3-0 record.
Team USA Earns Bye Heading Into Next Round Of Olympic Hockey
With the 5-1 win over Germany, Team USA earned a bye heading into the quarterfinals and avoided playing in the qualifying round. With the 3-0 record in the preliminary round, Team USA earned the #2 overall seed heading into the quarterfinals.

Team Canada finished with the first overall seed and will be joined by Slovakia and Finland, who also earned byes in the quarter finals. The four countries on a bye will play on Wednesday against the winners of Tuesday’s qualifying games.
Buffalo Sabre Captain Rasmus Dalin Reaches Quarterfinals With Team Sweden
The other Buffalo Sabre playing in the Olympics will play on Tuesday. Sabres Captain Rasum Dalhin is on Team Sweden and will end up playing on Tuesday in the qualification playoffs. Team Sweden will take on Team Latvia. The winner of this game will play Team USA on Wednesday.
We could see Buffalo Sabre on Buffalo Sabre action coming up on Wednesday afternoon.
