Cheektowaga police have released body cam footage of a fatal shooting last week. The incident happened at an apartment complex in North Buffalo. Police were searching for 60-year-old Hugh Davis, Jr., who, allegedly, attacked employees and put a man in a coma at the Fairfield Inn, located in Cheekowaga. That's why the CPD was in Buffalo.

In the footage, they are knocking on a door, trying to convince the man to come out. They tried telling him they had property to return to him, which didn't work.  Eventually, the door broke from them knocking on it, which surprised the office, which did not appear to be trying to break down the door. That's when the man, who police say is Davis, lunged at the officers with a large knife. Police shot him, what looks to be three times, as he swung wildly at one of the officers.

In the video, there are several angles showing the attack. All three officers' body cams are shown. They also include a slow-motion look that clearly shows the man with what appears to be a large kitchen knife. The officers were visibly shaken by the incident. The man died from his wounds.

Warning: this video contains graphic content, and you must be 18 years of age or older to view it on YouTube. Viewer discretion is advised.

I think it's a good thing we have body cameras on our police officers. This clearly shows what happened, and there is no debating those facts. People will debate the actions, and to each their own on that. The legal process will determine who is right and wrong.  The good news is that there is clear evidence of what happened, and that is extremely valuable for all involved.
