There is a renewed fear for some drivers here in New York State after a recent crime occurred in Rochester. Crime has been a big topic lately as the migrant situation is a growing concern in cities across New York State.

How aware of your surroundings are you when you drive? Specifically when you drive at night? Do you have a plan in place should a potentially situation happen when you are alone behind the wheel? It may sound paranoid to some. However, these types of crimes are becoming more frequent.

The latest armed car jacking has taken place in Rochester, New York and police are still investigating what took place.

According to the report from News 8:

According to RPD, just after 9:30 p.m., police responded to the 100 block of Harvard Street for the report of an armed robbery. The victim, a 24-year-old Rochester resident said he saw the group of suspects attempting to steal his parked vehicle on the street and tried to stop them.

This is another reminder to have a plan or to at least keep your car in a safe and well lit place. Unfortunately, this crime happens way too often.

This incident that was reported below is also a reminder that when you leave your house, even if just for a quick walk, you may want to lock the house. These thieves were just capitalizing on an easy opportunity.

There have been a string of break-ins and car thefts that have been happening in the Rochester area recently and if you drive anywhere in the Monroe county area you are reminded to try not to make your vehicle an easy target for thieves.
