If you are on the roads this morning, you may need to take an alternative route.

We have received numerous reports on the WYRK app about an accident that occurred just before 8 AM on Friday.

Amanda from West Seneca was the first person to alert us of the accident. She sent this message into the WYRK Facebook page:

Anyone trying to get into the city on Broadway pass Bailey will need to take an alternate route. Completely closed off by police/SWAT/fire trucks, there was yellow caution tape up, they said it was a bad accident.”

Try to take an alternative route if possible. As of right now, we are still waiting to hear how severe the accident is.

Hopefully everyone is OK and safe, but we will update this as we find out more.

Need to make a traffic report? Message us on the WYRK app or on Facebook at 106.5 WYRK, and let us know what you see.

EXTRA: Worst Highways In New York State

In a recent Reddit thread, one person declared Niagara Scenic Parkway to be the worst highway in the entire state. Previously, the highway was known as Robert Moses Parkway, and the original idea for this road was to connect Niagara Falls to Lewiston, NY to serve waterfront industries. However, those waterfront industries are no longer evident.

As a result, this road has “inadvertently cut off city residents from the waterfront and diverted traffic away from the central business districts,” according to Congress For The New Urbanism

While Niagara Scenic Parkway seems to be a strong contender as the Worst Highway In New York, there are a few other major roads that have been considered to be just as bad, if not worse. Find the full story here
