Chestnut Ridge Park is beautiful.  There are a ton of things to do there.  But one simple change would make a huge difference.

There are trails to hike.  There are picnic shelters.  There's even a disc golf course sprinkled in the trees and fields there.  Chestnut Ridge Park is awesome.  That should be established before anything else.

However, after taking a visit there last night, we realized a small change could make it even better.

Line more of the tennis courts for pickleball.

If you've never been there before, there are 8 tennis courts in one section and then another 4 in the section next to it.  They're really nice courts.  However, of the entire 12 courts, only 4 are lined for pickleball.

We went last night to enjoy the perfect fall weather and play a little pickleball and unfortunately, all 4 of the courts were being used, there were people waiting in line in front of us, and then two more came after we got there.

Pickleball is huge!

They say that pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and it's easy to see why.  It's easy to learn.  It's a good way to get a little exercise if you want to take it easy, but if you want to really go hard, it can get your heart pumping.  It's started to get a reputation as an "old person" sport, but that doesn't seem to be the case with just about everyone I've seen playing since I started.  Don't knock it until you've tried it.

I understand that you wouldn't want to line every court for pickleball because that could cause a problem for the people who come to play tennis.  But from what I saw last night, pickleball seems to be your more popular sport right now.  You don't have to take the tennis courts away from them, but by simply adding lines to a couple more of the courts you could make more choices available.

Can we make this possible for 2025?
