Stefanik And Hochul Trade Insults Ahead Of 2026 Showdown
Just when you thought that people were going to act a little more civilized, two of New York State's top leaders have been hurling insults at each other in what many people think is going to be a preview of the 2026 election season.
In the weeks since the 2025 local and county elections wrapped up, the rhetoric between Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, who officially announced she was running for Governor of New York State, and sitting Governor Kathy Hochul has turned up quite a bit.
Now, we all know that politics is not for the faint of heart, and in our current society, you should be prepared for some mud to be slung around; however, this race is shaping up to be a messy one as we get into the 2026 election season.
Stefanik Attacks Hochul
The U.S. Representative who advocates for issues in New York's 21st Congressional District has had an almost non-stop attack against Governor Hochul.
Stefanik, a Harvard graduate who spent time on President George W. Bush's U.S. Domestic Policy Council, has had a lot to say about how Governor Hochul and other Democrats have led the state.
Among other things, Stefanik has called Hochul the worst Governor in America and considers her tenure a failure.
Hochul Insults Stefanik In Return
The mud-slinging isn't one-sided by any means, as Governor Hochul had some strong words for the Congresswoman in a recent interview on MSNow.
Hochul has also said that Stefanik refuses to stand up for kids in New York and that she abandoned New Yorkers during the government shutdown, along with other things.
The 2026 Election Is Going To Be One To Watch
While we have eleven months to go until the next election day, things are sure looking like the next time we vote will have serious implications for those of us who live in the Empire State.
Not only are we electing a new governor, but we will also fill 26 seats in Congress, and both the New York State Assembly and Senate.
