Health Code Violations In Oneida County

Oneida County has published a list of restaurants that had health code violations during their latest inspections in November. As we move into the new year many people are looking to eat healthier. Choosing to avoid certain foods is one aspect of eating healthy. Another aspect is eating food that is properly prepared. Foodborne illnesses are a reality in America, even though we are a First World country. I'm sure you've seen plenty of food recalls and issues at restaurants in the news.

Within each county, there are food inspectors who visit restaurants and other places that prepare food, like churches and schools. These people are the unsung heroes of our communities. They grade each spot and ensure they are following the food preparation protocols that help keep us and our families safe. Their reports can include violations such as "Toilet facilities inadequate, inconvenient, dirty, in disrepair, toilet paper missing, not self-closing doors, missing hand wash signs," and critical violations like "Critical Violation [RED] Potentially hazardous foods are not kept at or below 45°F during cold holding, except smoked fish not kept at or below 38°F during cold holding." There were 9 restaurants in Oneida County that had violations during their inspections in November.

Ensuring that these issues are corrected is of the utmost importance. Something that seems like a small issue could blow up into a deadly situation. The good news is that only 9 restaurants did not pass their health code inspections in Oneida County, while 29 did!
