Allegany County has published a list of restaurants that had health code violations during their latest inspections in December. Foodborne illnesses are a reality in America, even though we are a First World country. I'm sure you've seen plenty of food recalls and issues at restaurants in the news. That's why it is so important to support the restaurants that passed their health code inspections.

Within each county, there are food inspectors who visit restaurants and other places that prepare food, like churches and schools. These people are the unsung heroes of our communities. They grade each spot and ensure they are following the food preparation protocols that help keep us and our families safe. Their reports can include violations such as "Food not protected during storage, preparation, display, transportation and service, from potential sources of contamination (e.g., food uncovered, mislabeled, stored on floor, missing or inadequate sneeze guards, food containers double stacked)," and critical violations like "Critical Violation [RED] Food workers do not use proper utensils to eliminate bare hand contact with cooked or prepared foods."

There were 31 restaurants in Allegany County that had violations during their inspections in December.

Making sure that the issues that arise during health code inspections are corrected is of the utmost importance. Something that seems small could turn into a deadly situation for customers. The good news is that there are 16 restaurants that did pass their health code inspections, the bad news is that 31 restaurants in Allegany County did not pass their inspections in December.

Be sure to save this list and share it with your friends and family. Check back next month for the restaurants that passed in January. Contact me here.
