Drive-Thru Haunted Houses Are Halloween’s Hottest Trend For 2020
It doesn't look as if coronavirus will spare Halloween, and preparations are already being made for 2020's next trend -- the drive-thru haunted house.
Drive-thru haunted houses first made headlines in Tokyo, where they take the horror genre to the next level. That girl who slimes out of a well in "The Ring"? Japan's "Ringu" was the original. So it's not surprising that's where the most horrifying haunted house experience I've ever read about is located.
"With the virus, I knew there would be no way we could have a traditional haunted house, with all that screaming in a small confined space," Kenta Iwana, Kowagarasetai's founder, tells CNN Travel."When I read that drive-through theaters were making a comeback, it was my 'aha' moment."
Could a Haunted Drive Thru be coming to Western New York this Halloween? It seems to be trending in other parts of the country, and is a coronavirus-safe activity -- provided you're only screaming in your car among people you live with.
