Remembering DMX: The Time I Got To Interview Him In Buffalo [Watch]
Rap legend DMX passed away at the age of 50 on April 9, 2021, after an overdose on Friday, March 2, put him on life support. The world lost a talented, yet complicated artist, and his family lost a husband, father, and friend. It still hurts to know that he lost the battle he was fighting internally. Even though he had his challenges in life (like we all do), his spirit was so special.
When I met X, he had just been released from jail for non-payment of child support. He was so happy to be free again and he was in such a great mood. He came up to the radio station for an in-person interview. I was super excited, as I had never met DMX before. I did see him in concert in Atlanta at the Hardknock Life Tour. His performance was amazing! He had an entire choir on stage with him. I thought he was a talented artist and exuded New York. When I finally did get to meet him, it was about five and a half years ago (September 2015), I had a chance to talk with X for almost 20 minutes. He was so spiritually aware and wise beyond his age. If you missed it, you can watch the interview below.
