The Buffalo Sabres haven't gotten their logo shown at the NHL Playoffs or finals in years.  But somehow, the Buffalo Bills have!

Last night, the Tampa Bay Lightning won their second Stanley Cup championship in two years.  This time it was over the Montreal Canadians.

There were Tampa fans everywhere to watch them win a back to back championship.  But somehow, if you looked at the crowd very closely, you could see someone representing another team that wears blue.

One of our listeners Robin Sengbusch saw it...

Yup...that's a Bills fan all the way down in Tampa representing the Bills Mafia at the NHL Finals.

Now if we could only get the Sabres there.  Just imagine how crazy this town would get again?

It's not to say that we haven't had really good teams in the past.  We've been close before.  But as a city, we have so many scars from being "close but no cigar."

Of course as Bills fans, we have the Music City Miracle that haunted us for years.  We have "Wide Right" for a lot of us that are old enough to remember that.

The Sabres big one is "No Goal."

For those who are unfamiliar with "No Goal" here's what happened.  The Sabres were deep into the NHL Finals against the Dallas Stars.  It was game 6 of the 1999 playoffs.  They were on their third overtime.  Back then, there was a rule that a skater could not be in the goalie crease and still score a goal.

Brett Hull took a shot with his foot clearly in the crease...and they allowed it to stand.

People still protest it to this day.  But history is what it is.  The Stars walked away with the trophy and the Sabres walked away with nothing.

Why do I remember it so well?  It happened on my 21st birthday.  That's one way to remember it.

Watch These 6 Former Buffalo Sabres In The Playoffs This Year

Once again the NHL playoffs are here and once again the Buffalo Sabres are on the outside looking in. The good news is that if you are a Buffalo Sabres fan, there are plenty of ex-Sabres players on playoff teams this year.
