Destiny's Restaurant Closed Due to Employee with Hepatitis A

Buffalo restaurant Destiny's is temporarily closed due to an employee testing positive for Hepatitis A!

The employee handled food, according to Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz and Health Commissioner Dr. Gale Burstein. Destiny's, which is located at 2383 Fillmore Avenue is now temporarily closed until it can be thoroughly sanitized. The employee tested positive and was diagnosed with hepatitis A, according to WGRZ. The owner and other employees have been instructed to seek medical evaluation if they have any Hepatitis A symptoms. If you dined at Destiny's between February 27 and March 11, you can get a free Hep. A vaccine, according to the Erie County Department of Health advises anyone who ate food there between to receive a free hepatitis A vaccine. Vaccines will be available today (March 13) and tomorrow (March 14) from 3 to 8 pm at Elim Christian Fellowship Church, located at 70 Chalmers Avenue. However, if you ate at Destiny's from February 9 to the 26, the vaccination will not help you. Poloncarz told WGRZ, "Depending on when you ate there, there may be nothing you can do. It may be too late. You just have to monitor your health. So, if somebody ate at this restaurant before the period where you can get the vaccine, your best bet is to monitor your health and talk to your doctor."

Destiny's was also cited for 10 other violations:

Non-food contact surfaces not cleaned as often as necessary, dry cloths used to wipe food spills from plates/bowls not cleaned properly and garbage/refuse not properly stored, housed or disposed.
