Looks Like This WNY Town Will Get a Costco Soon
Here in Western New York, we have it pretty good when it comes to retail and food options. Wegmans and Tops are both a way of life here, and Buffalo also has a fair amount of wholesale clubs and other retailers that are very popular.
Still, it's pretty crazy that one of the biggest retailers in the world doesn't have a location here; that store being Costco.
Costco is a big-box retail store that currently has zero Buffalo region locations, but that looks to be changing soon.
A few months ago, a retail expert predicted Costco would come to Buffalo very soon, and this week, WIVB reports that it appears Amherst will be the first Western New York town to get a location.
Amherst Town Supervisor Brian Kulpa confirms that Costco is in talks with a town developer, although no contract agreement has been reached quite yet. It's exactly clear where in Amherst that Costco is looking to locate to.
I always turn heads when I visit friends from out of town and I tell them Buffalo doesn't have an IKEA or Costco -- they look at me like I have three heads.
It was probably only a matter of time until Costco attempted a Buffalo location. As popular as Wegmans is here, Costco would be popular here at least initially. My fiancée is one of the people who would love to have a Costco here.
