Event: 42nd Juneteenth Festival of Buffalo
Date: Saturday, June 17th & Sunday June 18th 2017
Place: Martin Luther King Jr. Park, Best Street & Fillmore

Parade begins at 11:00 AM sharp from the corners of Genesee & Moselle, proceeds down Genesee into Park. Followed by Festivities in Park until 8:00 PM.
*Festivities include: parade, Entertainment stage, Arts and Culture stage, Vendor’s Market, Food Court, Health Pavilion, Chalk Walk, Book Sharing, Historical exhibits, Re-enacting historical events in history, Science Fair, Children’s Activities, Youth Activities, Girls & Boys Basketball Showcase, Underground Railroad Tours and more!
Come and enjoy a fun-filled weekend for the entire family! The Juneteenth Festival of Buffalo, NY is the largest in the country. Its mission is to “actively preserve and promote the broad spectrum of African American heritage through educational and cultural activities that will benefit the community as a whole.”

THE JUNETEENTH PARADE:
June 17th: – begins at Genesee Street and Moselle – 11:00 AM
ART ACTIVITIES (presented by Buffalo Public School)
June 17th: (creating masks, jewelry making, stamping and button making – from 10:00 to 5:00 PM, near MLK Jr. bust
MARCUS GARVEY ANNUAL SCIENCE FAIR AND EXPO:
June 17th & June 18th: Location: The Marcus Garvey Shelter (behind Arts and Culture Stage). The all age science interactive activity will be from 2:00 to 7:00 PM. There will be hands on Science experiments and presentations from local, national, and international guests who are practicing in careers related to science.
AFRICAN HERITAGE CHALK WALK AND CRAFTS:
June 17th & 18th: Sponsored by the Buffalo Board of Education Art Department. Location: Paved area near the bust
GIRLS AND BOYS BASKETBALL SHOWCASE:
June 17th and 18th: Basketball Courts
MAIN STAGE ENTERTAINMENT:
June 17th and June 18:

UNDERGROUND RAILROAD TOURS:
June 17th & June 18th. Time: 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, Location of pick up site: Best & Fillmore.
HEALTH PAVILION:
June 17th at 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM and June 18th at 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM Location: Vendors alley on Fillmore near Martin Luther King Drive. Sponsor: Great Lakes Health (Kaleida Health/E.C.M.C), and New York State of Health.
CHILDREN’S ACTIVITY TENT:
June 17th & 18th 11:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Activity tent and area Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Face painting Saturday from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM by Sara, SPCA presents Wildlife display from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Erie County Public Library presents The Book Mobile Saturday from 10:00 to 6:00 PM Location: Behind the small wading pool.

HERITAGE TENT:
June 17th & June 18th: Displays of African artifacts, veterans display, brochures of heritage information @ the corner of Best and Fillmore in Martin Luther King Jr. Park.
ARTS AND CULTURE STAGE:
Saturday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Local artists and reenactment of historical events will also occur on Arts & Culture Stage. Location: Fillmore and Parade.
