Committee Members Are Fighting For A Fourth Round Of Stimulus Checks
There are people in Western New York and all around the United States still recovering from this global pandemic, for many people unemployment payments will end in September, and many moms and dads still do not have jobs to go to that will make enough to provide for their families.
According to WIVB, members of a powerful congressional committee are calling for additional rounds of economic relief from the federal government for families. Many Americans have already found uses for the recent third round of $1,400 stimulus checks. Now, seven Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee are calling for a fourth and fifth round of direct payments to assist people with housing, food, and other payments. The group that would like to see this plan put in motion represents about 15% of the committee's members.
Here Is How The Committee Feel The Fourth And Fifth Round Of Payments Could Help
With a fourth and fifth round of direct payments, it could help keep an additional 12 million out of poverty, in combination with the effects of the "American Recovery Plan". the committee feels that payments will reduce the number of poverty in 2021 from 44 million to 16 million.
There has been growing support among some Democratic lawmakers. Although another round of checks will most likely see some major pushback, it seems to be the right thing to do especially with the number of people still out of work and unemployment benefits set to end soon. Now, don't get me wrong, the government has put out a lot of money, but the fact of the matter is, there are still families struggling.
