It's no secret that Buffalo, New York has a plethora of talent but is somewhat still very much-so untapped. As of late, many of the city's best rappers have been emerging and coming out on top including rapper J-Retro, but he aims to set himself apart from the pack.

Being mentored by some of Buffalo's greats including the late DJ Shay and watching his father do music allowed J-Retro to have an advantage and unique perspective on doing music. He recently released his hit single "Holding Center" and its visuals which is inspired by the trials and tribulations he's faced in his hometown. Not only is J-Retro a super dope rapper, he's also an aspiring actor as well. He appeared in the 2020 hit independent movie "Hunger Pangs" directed by Amire K. Reed and written by Deuce King which you can stream on Amazon Prime.

J-Retro definitely has plans to do more movies in the future, but he's currently focused on perfecting his music and putting a quality music out for the masses. I caught up with J-Retro to talk about the new music he's working on, how being raised in Buffalo, New York has impacted his music and more!

Watch the full IG Live #OnTheRoxx Interview below and be sure to follow and support J-Retro's musical endeavors. You can watch his latest music video "Holding Center" on Youtube and follow his movement on Instagram! he's committed to dropping new music soon so get on the wave now!
