11 Notorious Gangs In Buffalo & Deadly Crimes They've Committed

Gang violence has been a source of a variety of crimes in Buffalo for decades, including violent murders. I grew up in Arizona, where gun violence carried out by gangs was rampant in the 1980s and 1990s. We had Bloods, Crips, and a plethora of Mexican gangs. In high school, I knew many of my peers who were murdered in cold blood by rival gangs.

In Buffalo, there are many gangs that are affiliated with streets, neighborhoods, or housing projects. According to WGRZ,

The FBI estimates there are between 40 and 50 street gangs in Buffalo with roughly 800 members.

These 11 gangs are well-known to authorities. All of the crimes they've committed that are listed below have been investigated by various law enforcement agencies and are public information.

Central Park Gang

Winston Reese was killed by two members of the Central Park Gang. The shooters have since been murdered themselves. Raquan Reid, the alleged getaway driver has been indicted for the murder. He's charged with one count of second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Fruit Belt Gang vs. Central Park Gang

Just a couple of days after the murder of a rival gang member, Fruit Belt Gang members Antwaine Parker and Michael Woods were shot. Police believe the incident was tied to their rivalry with the Central Park Gang.

A member of the Central Park Gang was killed near Canisius High School during a deadly shootout with Fruit Belt Gang members.

Milla Gangsta Bloods Gang

Nathaniel Myers a/k/a Stretch pleaded guilty to conspiring to possess with intent to distribute and distributing, 500 grams or more of cocaine.

While at the Niagara County Jail, Myers met Individual 1, who was later released from custody at the jail. Beginning in January 2020, investigators learned that the defendant had been in communication with Individual 1, in an effort to obtain large amounts of narcotics for distribution in the Buffalo area. In jail calls, Myers agreed to pay Individual 1 $39,000 for a kilogram of heroin, as well as $3,000 to Individual 2 who would be driving the kilogram of heroin from North Carolina to Buffalo. On January 13, 2020, Individual 2 delivered the kilogram of heroin to Individual 3 for further distribution. After being told by Individual 3 that the narcotics received “mixed reviews,” Myers arranged for another kilogram of heroin to be sent from the Chula Vista, CA, area to a residence on Leonard Street in Buffalo.

He had previously pleaded guilty to federal charges of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute and distributing, controlled substances and 280 grams or more of crack cocaine.

September 15 and 16, 2019
Cash Money Gang

Cash Money Gang kingpin Jariel Cobb, a/k/a Doobie, a/k/a Black, 47, of Buffalo, and Deandre Wilson, a/k/a D, 49, also of Buffalo, allegedly murdered three people - Miguel Anthony Valentin-Colon, Nicole Marie Merced-Plaud, and Dhamyl Roman-Audiffred. They also allegedly stole cocaine, cell telephones, and a white Chrysler Pacifica minivan from the victims. On June 23, 2006, Cobb was arrested along with 18 other members and associates of the gang. He served 10-years in prison back then. Fast forward to the murders in 2019, Cobb, Wilson, and James Reed, a/k/a Fatts, 38, of Buffalo, are accused of burning the bodies of Valentin-Colon and Merced-Plaud in a minivan, and mutilating and burning the body of Roman-Audiffred.

Kingsman Motorcycle Club

Four Kingsmen members were sentenced for their participation in gang activities that fall under the RICO statute,

• Jimmy Ray Fritts (Former Tennessee Moonshine Chapter President) was sentenced to serve 87 months in prison;
• Filip Caruso was sentenced to serve 70 months in prison;
• Ryan Myrtle was sentenced to time served, three years supervised release to include six months home detention, and 150 hours of community service; and
• Emmett Green was sentenced to time served and two years supervised release.

Two Kingsmen members were sentenced for RICO conspiracy. Thomas Koszuta was sentenced to 57 months behind bars. Robert Osborne (former KMC Olean Chapter President, Vice President) received a sentence of time served and three years on supervised release. Koszuta admitted that he and other members participated in the violent shutdown of a chapter of the club,

On June 7, 2013, KMC forcibly shut down the Springville Chapter and strip members of their colors because they were non-compliant members. While others possessed firearms, the defendant struck a victim in the head with a blunt object and stole items from the Springville clubhouse. They then used bleach to clean areas where the victim bled and cut and removed portions of the rug which contained blood. Also, on August 3, 2013, the defendant and other Kingsmen members conducted a drive-by shooting targeting former Springville Kingsmen members.

Kingsmen Motorcycle Club

The Department of Justice U.S. Attorney’s Office, Western District of New York, announced that David Pirk, the Kingsmen's National President, along with KMC member and Nomad Andre Jenkins also known as Little Bear, were convicted on federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) charges,

of crime of violence, murder in aid of racketeering, possession and discharge of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, using and maintaining premises for drug dealing and possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Jenkins was also convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Timothy Enix, also known as Blaze, who was the Kingsmen's Florida/Tennessee Regional President, was convicted of RICO, weapons and drug charges as well.

Acting Assistant Attorney General John P. Cronan of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division said,

The defendants and their associates transformed the Kingsmen Motorcycle Club into a vicious gang that terrorized the Buffalo area, engaging in senseless murders, brutal violence, robberies, and drug trafficking. But after today’s verdict, the Kingsmen Motorcycle Club’s reign of terror is coming to an end. The U.S. Department of Justice and our partners will aggressively pursue violent gangs wherever they are found and bring them to justice.

Dalvon Curry, a CBL/BFL gang member, was accused of murdering Jaquan Sullivan, according to the testimony of a fellow gang member, Raekwon Green.

Latin Kings Gang

Jose Escalera, a/k/a Tank, 41, of Buffalo, and Giovanni Cotto, a/k/a Monte, 36, of Springfield, Massachusetts, ordered the assault of a witness who was to testify against another Latin King gang member. The witness was being held in the Cattaraugus County Jail at the time of the assault. The victim's jaw was broken and wired shut, delaying his testimony.

One Kingsmen Motorcycle Club Gang

David Pirk, 68, KMC National President, and Andre Jenkins, aka Little Bear, 40, murdered two other members of the bike gang, Paul Maue and Daniel “DJ” Szymanski. Both victims were killed behind the North Tonawanda KMC Chapter clubhouse. U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy Jr. for the Western District of New York said,

“Those murders, together with numerous depraved and heinous acts of violence committed by defendants and others in the club, justify the sentences imposed and fittingly demonstrate that defendants’ quest to become “1 percenters” ultimately cost them 100% of their freedom for 100% of the rest of their lives.”

Camp Street Crew

Trammell McGee, 28, of Buffalo, an enforcer for the Camp Street Gang was targeted and marked for death by rival gang members. Police say the killers were looking for him near Davis Street and Jefferson Avenue, but instead shot and killed Clifford Alexander, who was at a house McGee used.

Kingsmen Motorcycle Club

A Kingsmen Motorcycle Club gang member punched a female victim in the face repeatedly. The victim was then held captive for three days to hide her injuries.

CBL/BFL Gang

CBL/BFL Gang member Dalvon Curry has also been convicted of the murder of Xavier Wimes. The Assistant U.S. Attorneys Paul C. Parisi and Seth T. Molisani, and Christopher O. Taylor, of the Department of Justice Organized Crime and Gang Section who prosecuted Curry, announced that he has been sentenced to life in prison, plus 25 years for the two murders.

Dalvon Curry, 25, of Buffalo, NY, who was convicted by a federal jury of two counts of murder in aid of racketeering; racketeering and narcotics conspiracy; possession of firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence; and possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Schuele Boys Gang

Roderick Arrington was convicted of the fatal shooting of Quincy Balance, a/k/a Shooter, at the intersection of Northland and Stevens in Buffalo. Arrington believed that "Shooter" had killed another member of the Schuele Boys. Arrington is serving a life sentence for murder in aid of racketeering.

10th Street Gang and Seventh Street Gang

Local police and the FBI arrested eight members of the gangs, which they say have been the sources of crime on the West side of Buffalo for decades, according to the Buffalo Police Commissioner at the time, Daniel Derenda,

"Numerous homicides, numerous shootings back and forth over the years. They've been in existence for many years, and I can't tell you, countless homicides countless shootings, terrorizing neighborhoods, the whole West side."

Markell Lewis, 21, the alleged leader of the Camp Street Crew was killed in his vehicle near Schiller Park.

Camp Street Crew

Rome Ward, 21, was found dead in a vacant house on Townsend Street in Buffalo. He had been missing for a month prior to his body being discovered. Ward's head was almost decapitated, three of his fingers were removed and police believe he was tortured. Police believe that Ward was a victim of the Camp Street Gang.

Kevin Allen, 38, aka Killer Kev, of Buffalo, and his associate Rickie "Rock" Scott were convicted in the murder of Lamar D. Williams. Both gang members were attempting to carry out a contract killing but killed Williams by mistake. He was driving down Pearl Street in a minivan that resembled the intended victim's vehicle. Both were sentenced to 25 years to life. Subsequently, Allen was also sentenced to 300 months in prison after being convicted of multiple RICO, drug, and gun charges.
