Buffalo Man Shot Into Car with Child In It
The shooting took place on October 14, 2020, in Buffalo. Around 11 pm, a male victim was sitting in the passenger seat of a car, which was parked outside of a store on East Amherst Street. Gilbert, who had an illegal gun, approached the car. He fired multiple shots into the vehicle, with the intent to kill the victim, according to the D.A.'s Office. The victim was shot in the neck. A 4-year-old child was sitting in the vehicle at the time of the shooting. The child, thankfully, wasn't injured.
Officers with the Buffalo Police Department found Gilbert a short time after the shooting incident. He was trying to get rid of the illegal weapon, a pistol, which had been used in the shooting. Authorities used DNA testing to link Gilbert to the gun. He is facing up to 25 years in prison. He is being held without bail until his sentencing hearing, which will take place on Tuesday, June 29, 2021.
There have been quite a few shootings and violent incidents in Buffalo recently. Unfortunately, with the combination of summer coming and the loosening of COVID-19 restrictions, we may be in for a violent few months.
