They say that Buffalo is the city of good neighbors and the action of a local school student serves as a reminder that this is 100 percent true.
Sometimes kids can be cruel to other kids when they don't have cool clothes or nice shows, especially in middle school. Something like this happened recently to a 7th-grade boy at Buffalo Creek Academy, a local charter school in Buffalo's Old First Ward neigborhood.
According to a story from WGRZ-TV the student, whose name is Melvin was coming to school with shoes that were falling apart and was being made fun of by some other students in the school.
I could tell it was upsetting him... It just put a real bad ache in my stomach to see somebody have to go through that, and to be to be picked on just based off appearance.
-Romello speaking to WGRZ-TV
Melvin's friend Romello decided that wasn't cool and he was going to do something about it.

He saved up a bunch of money from his allowance and asked his mom if she would take him to the shoe store to buy his friend some new shoes. His mom agreed, and Romello showed up at school the next day with a gift for Melvin.
That act of kindness and sacrifice is a perfect example of how people in Buffalo take care of others. We see it every day on the streets and in our communities.
The news of Romello's goodwill has gone viral making it as far as The Shade Room where it's been liked by over 1 million people.
Kudos to you Romello for helping a friend in need.
