The 2nd Annual Financial Empowerment Summit, powered by Breaking Barriers and Say Yes Buffalo, is back, and this year the focus is clear: Securing Your Legacy!

Happening Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Buffalo State University from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, this is more than just an event. It is a full-day experience designed to educate, empower, and equip both youth and adults with real tools to take control of their financial future.

And the best part.........It is completely free and open to the community.

The work behind this summit is rooted in something bigger. As I shared before, Breaking Barriers is an extension of the Boys and Young Men of Color Alignment, an initiative created to improve life outcomes for young men of color across Buffalo. Through leadership development, mentorship, and access to opportunity, the program focuses on building future leaders who are not only prepared for careers but ready to advocate for change in their communities. This summit is a direct reflection of that mission; it is about closing gaps in financial knowledge, creating access to resources, and making sure our community is not just surviving, but building wealth and ownership.

Here is what you should expect from the 2nd Annual Financial Empowerment Summit: from the moment you walk in, the energy is intentional. You are stepping into a space filled with conversations around money mindset, wealth building, entrepreneurship, and long-term financial planning.

This year, they expanded the experience by adding an exclusive youth track, making sure the next generation is getting the game early. Ages 12 and up are welcome, which means families can learn and grow together. There will be workshops, panels, and real conversations led by people who are actually doing the work, not just talking about it. And yes, they got you covered. Lite breakfast and lunch will be provided so you can stay locked in all day.
