After a long and fun summer, kids all across the Empire State let out a collective sigh when school started back up for the year after the Labor Day holiday.

Now that school has been in session for a few weeks, some continuing problems that we've been dealing with in New York State are starting to rear their ugly head again, and it's causing a major impact for students, parents, and schools all over the Empire State.

While some state and local officials have been trying to make changes, it appears that more efforts are needed to encourage more people to become school bus drivers in the state.

Bus Driver Shortage Causing Kids To Get Home Late From School

While it may seem like it, the school bus driver shortage is not something that is unique to New York. Communities all over the nation are dealing with this issue, and Buffalo is not exempt from it at all. It was just a few years ago when the Buffalo Public Schools suggested paying parents to drive students to school since the driver shortage had gotten so bad.

Well, it seems that things are not getting better in Buffalo as a new series of problems is starting to creep up.

The driver shortage is having an even more extreme impact on parents and students in Buffalo, as some kids aren't getting home later and later. Not only does Buffalo, and other districts across the state, have multiple class start and stop bell times, but the shortage is also causing some students to get home after 5 pm.

School Districts and bus companies across the state are trying to hire more drivers, but until they do, it seems the kids are the ones who will continue to suffer.
