
Buffalo Police Have Been Busy This Week With Several Shootings In The City
Even though places all over Western New York are experiencing a record decrease in crime across several statistical categories, it's hard to beleive that to be true when we're hearing about what seems like a shooting a day in Buffalo. However, since it is possible for two things to be true a the same time, Buffalo has been dealing with several incidents over the last few days.
Just days after New York State Governor Kathy Hochul highlighted the success of police agencies in Erie County have had fighting crime, the Buffalo Police Department have been pretty busy over the last week.
Over the last 10 days there have been at least 6 shootings that have pulled officers and detectives to different parts of the Queens City.

In the evening hours on Thursday, April 23, 2026, BPD officers were called to Jefferson Avenue near Southampton Street where they found a woman who had been shot in the side of her body and needed to be taken by ambulance to the Erie County Medical Center.
Just a few days later, around 6:30 am on Sunday, April 26, 2026, a young man with gunshot wounds to his side and back walked into Buffalo General Hospital for treatment. He was transferred to ECMC for additional treatment, while police investigators were able to track the original crime scene back to a house on Hudson Street.
On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, a man walked into ECMC around 6 pm with serious injuries from a gunshot to his side, that man was rushed into surgery and is still in serious condition.
Then, a few hours later on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, officers were called to Hampshire Street where they found a man who was shot in they leg. The victim was taken to ECMC with what are described as injuries that are not life threatening.

While it may seem like Buffalo is in the midst of a massive violence streak and crime wave, the data and statistics just don't bare that out. The facts are that crime is down to near historic lows even with what seems like a string of shootings.
