It was a Christmas weekend to remember, but unfortunately for all the wrong reasons.

Nearly four-dozen people were killed after storms swept across the South, Midwest and Southwest, triggering tornadoes and flooding.

Authorities say that several people were injured and close to 800 homes damaged in Texas alone.

Missouri is under a State of Emergency due to flooding, as is New Mexico after a winter storm dumped two feet of snow.

The weather is also being blamed for cancelling nearly 15-hundred flights on Sunday, which was one of the busiest travel days of the year.
