Saucepan Recall In New York Due To Possible Health Risk
A staple in the kitchen is being recalled in New York due to a significant health threat. It always sucks when there's a recall of an item you use or eat. It's like, damn, can't these companies get it right the first time? Based on the number of recalls, according to Sedgwick Brand Protection’s 2025 U.S. State of the Nation Recall Index report,
"The 3,232 recalls across five key industries represent the second-highest annual total in the past six years. Notably, 2023 and 2024 are the only consecutive years in the past decade in which U.S. recall events have exceeded 3,200. In contrast, the number of defective products recalled in 2024 fell to its lowest level since 2015, with 680.9 million units. This is a significant drop from the nearly 1.5 billion units that were recalled just two years earlier in 2022."

If you bought a saucepan in the past couple of years, you need to check it. Town Food Service Equipment Co., Inc. of Brooklyn, has issued a recall for its aluminum saucepans. The pans at the center of the recall are potentially contaminated with lead, according to the Food and Drug Administration. The lead may leach into food, posing a serious threat.
"Lead is toxic to humans and can affect people of any age or health status, and there is no known safe level of exposure to lead. Even low levels of lead exposure can cause serious health problems, particularly in children and fetuses. Consuming food with elevated lead levels can contribute to elevated levels of lead in the blood. Children and babies are more susceptible to lead toxicity due to their smaller body size, metabolism, and rapid growth."
