The Rochester Area Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect in the murder of a 5-year-old boy.

The Rochester Police Department is asking for the public's help in solving the murder of a 5-year-old boy. Malakai Stovall was killed in an arson that happened at 1290 Portlant Avenue in Rochester on July 29, 2024.  Malakai died in a fire that was started at the home. His father, Tavaughan Stovall, told WHAM,

"He was a brave, beautiful, innocent boy. That boy saw the wonder and beauty in everything. Didn’t matter what it was or where he was, he was smiling and happy."

Malakai suffered burns on more than 75% of his body. Police say the fire was started intentionally around 2 am. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible.

Man Wanted By Rochester Police For Shooting Bus Driver

Police in Rochester are searching for a man involved in shooting a Regional Transit Service bus driver. A cash reward of between $500 to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest of the suspect.

The suspect, pictured above, shot the bus driver with a BB. gun on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at a bus stop on Bay Street. The driver suffered from life-changing injuries, according to Spectrum News. The incident took place around 3 pm. Miguel Velazquez, Chief Executive Officer at RTS, said,

"Our drivers are there every day providing a critical service to our community. They are not going out there thinking that they're not going to be able to get home safely to their families. We train them to provide excellent customer service and to be kind to our customers, especially those in crisis. And so we ask the community to be kind to them and help identify this person and send a message that this is not right and that our drivers are providing a critical service."
