50 Cent Announces Lloyd Banks Departure From G-Unit, New Mixtape Coming Soon [PHOTO]
It’s official! Lloyd Banks is no longer a soldier on G-Unit Records. On Tuesday (June 12), 50 Cent went to Instagram to confirm that Blue Hefner is an independent artist and is dropping a new mixtape soon.
"Check out my boy Lloyd bank$. New Mixtape coming soon!" Fif wrote along with a photo of Banks. "Independence Day, he is doing his own thing and you know it’s gonna be loaded with bars. (Check him out) PLK get the strap."
If you know anything about Banks, he was very prolific on the mixtape circuit during the early '00s and was affectionately nicknamed Mixtape Banks by his dedicated fans.
Back in March, Banks posted a cryptic message about the rap game, and people thought that he was announcing his retirement. But that wasn't the case. It appears that Banks is going the independent route and was contemplating on the state of rap music.
The 36-year-old rapper hasn't dropped a proper studio album since 2010’s H.F.M. 2 (The Hunger for More 2). After an eight-year hiatus, Banks is ready to flex his lyrical muscles once again.
With Banks out of G-Unit, it only leaves Fif, Tony Yayo, and Kid Kid to pick up the slack.
Either way, we are interested in hearing what Lloyd Banks has to say on his new projects.
