5 Buffalo Teens Indicted on 205 Rape, Burglary and Kidnapping Charges
Five teenagers have been indicted on charges of rape, burglary and kidnapping. Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn made the announcement yesterday, Tuesday, July 27, 2021. The teens are facing a total of 205 charges, including raping two children. The alleged incidents happened last year, according to the Erie County D.A.'s Office. Two of the suspects are juvenile male teens, and three are adult male teens. One of the adult suspects is still wanted.
On September 26, 2020, around 8:00 pm, the defendants broke into a home on Buffalo's west side. D.A. Flynn alleges Bryce J. Baker, Abdiwahab Sabtow, and a 13-year-old juvenile raped an 11-year-old girl who was in the home alone. When the victim's mother returned home, the suspects fled, stealing a cell phone in the process.
5 Teens Kidnap and Rape Underage Girl Multiple Times
In another separate incident, Abdiwahab Sabtow and two juveniles raped a 16-year-old girl. The young lady got into a car with the defendants on November 20, 2020, around 7 pm. Rather than taking her to her intended destination, the offenders allegedly took her to Potomac Park and sexually assaulted her.
The defendants picked up Bryce J. Baker and another unnamed adult defendant and proceeded to rape the victim again. They then drove her to Dart Street, where they continued to sexually assault her. The offenders then held the young lady against her will for several hours in a garage, until she was able to escape and get help from a passerby.
Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn said,
“These five teenagers are accused of committing two of the most brazen and violent sexual assaults that have been prosecuted by my office’s Special Victims Unit, resulting in one of the highest count indictments that has been handed down by a Grand Jury in recent years in Erie County. I am shocked by the ages of these young men who are accused of raping these two children. I am committed to obtaining justice for these victims.”
